Cultural Development

Trust as Social Infrastructure

Trust is the connective tissue of societies. This dashboard pairs WVS trust scores with institutional quality, personal safety, and life satisfaction to surface where cohesion is an asset or a fragility signal.

This is a live example built with the WVS Toolkit, using a sample of 30 countries.

This dashboard is optimized for wider screens. You can still explore on mobile, but tables and charts are easier to read on desktop.

Context

Trust comes from the World Values Survey (WVS), rule of law from the World Bank's Worldwide Governance Indicators, and safety plus life satisfaction from the OECD Better Life Index. These were chosen to pair a cultural signal (trust) with institutional capacity and lived wellbeing, giving a fuller picture of how social cohesion translates into outcomes.
